There are two types of projects within the WYDO framework:
- WYDO projects
- WYDO endorsed projects
1. WYDO projects
Definition
Projects that have been started by WYDO and are managed by a project coordinator.
Procedure to set up a project
Any person involved within WYDO can submit a 1-2 page project description to the board for initiating a WYDO project. This includes project purpose and goals, target group, structure, persons involved and budget.
Project coordinator
Following approval of the project, a project coordinator will be appointed by the board, whose first task would be to develop a project strategic plan.
Project management
The project coordinator can develop the roles within the project and recruit persons as project team members, following WYDO recruitment procedures and board approval. Communication within the project will take place on the internal WYDO platform to ensure transparency and appropriate documentation.
Reporting/accountability
The project coordinator will develop an annual summary of the project, including activities undertaken, update of the project description and financial details.
Fundraising
WYDO will support the project team in seeking funding, including increasing project visibility and identification of relevant grants, and when feasible may divert resources from the central budget for financing activities.
2. Endorsed projects
Definition
Projects that have been running independently outside WYDO, and involve young doctors.
Procedure for endorsement
The project coordinator should submit a 1-2 page project description, which includes project purpose and goals, target group, structure, persons involved and an overview of financial status. If the project receives funding or in-kind support from private or public companies/organizations, their names should be included as well.
Project management
The project coordinator is responsible for all aspects of project management and development, independent of WYDO.
Reporting/accountability
The project coordinator provides an annual summary of the project, including activities undertaken and an update of the project description.
Fundraising
WYDO will support the project team in seeking funding, including increasing project visibility and identification of relevant grants.
